The test results for 20 Section Officer (BS-18) posts in the Office Management Group (OMG) have been announced by FPSC. However, the success rate in this test remained extremely disappointing as only two candidates succeeded in clearing all stages of the test, leaving 18 posts vacant. The low number of candidates and the competitive nature of the test are major concerns in this regard.
Around 99 candidates showed their interest for the positions, yet only 17 appeared for the written test. 82 applicants failed to show up, which reflects the hopelessness of clearing these exams. Among those who sat for the examination, three initially qualified the written test. However, one candidate could not succeed in the interview stage. Eventually, Haroon Arshad Mian (Roll No. 11) and Asad Hussain (Roll No. 7) passed all stages and secured the positions.
Although Ahmed Hussain Soomro (Roll No. 1) cleared the written test, he did not pass the interview. Additionally, four candidates failed the written examination, while the commission withheld results for 10 applicants due to rejected applications. These factors combined to leave most of the advertised posts vacant, despite the strong interest in government service roles.
FPSC officials emphasized that the commission strictly follows merit-based procedures. They noted that the current situation highlights the challenge of attracting adequately prepared candidates for administrative positions. Observers suggest that more awareness and guidance could improve future participation and ensure that qualified candidates fill key roles.
Clearly, the process of selection based on merit and the need to participate in competitive examinations is necessary. At the moment, there are 18 positions for Section Officers at the OMG that need individuals with the ability to meet the requirements set by the commission.
