Affordable model retains familiar design with minor upgrades
Apple has launched the iPhone 17e, opening its latest product cycle with a device positioned as a more affordable option in its lineup. The new model closely follows last year’s iPhone 16e, introducing limited changes while maintaining a similar design.
The iPhone 17e features a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 2532 × 1170 resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. It keeps the notch that houses Face ID and the front-facing camera. However, Apple upgraded the screen protection to Ceramic Shield 2 glass for improved durability.
Additionally, the device carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. It comes in Black, White and a new Soft Pink finish. Notably, Apple added MagSafe support, enabling compatibility with magnetic accessories. This marks the device’s primary hardware upgrade over its predecessor.
New chip and connectivity enhancements power latest model
Under the hood, Apple equipped the iPhone 17e with its new A19 chip, paired with a 4-core GPU. The company also introduced the C1X modem, which it says enhances 5G connectivity and overall network performance.
The phone runs iOS 26 and supports Apple Intelligence features. On the back, it includes a single 48MP camera with optical image stabilization. It records 4K video at 60 frames per second with Dolby Vision, while a new image processing pipeline improves portrait photography.
Meanwhile, the 12MP front camera handles selfies and video calls. The device supports 15W wireless charging via MagSafe, along with faster wired charging.
Apple priced the 256GB model at $599, while the 512GB version costs $799.
