ISLAMABAD: Pakistanโs National Computer Emergency Response Team launched an investigation on Monday into reported cyberattacks targeting several private television channels and websites across the country.
According to a report aired by 24NewsHD TV, officials convened a special meeting in Islamabad to review the cyber incidents that surfaced late Sunday night. During the session, cybersecurity experts and National CERT officials assessed the scale of the disruption and initiated a comprehensive probe into the suspected breaches. Moreover, authorities began coordinating with relevant national institutions to determine the motive and technical nature of the attacks.
Officials confirmed that multiple complaints alleged hacking attempts involving private news channels and digital platforms. Consequently, the agency ordered an immediate security review to prevent further intrusions and safeguard media infrastructure. National CERT representatives assured participants that investigators would compile a detailed report after completing forensic analysis.
Unverified claims and regional cyber tensions emerge
Meanwhile, some reports alleged that intelligence-linked actors from Israel and India orchestrated the cyberattacks and briefly broadcast anti-Pakistan content on compromised platforms. However, authorities have not independently verified these claims and continue to examine digital evidence.
In response to the alleged breaches, a group describing itself as Pakistanโs Cyber Force reportedly launched a retaliatory cyber operation targeting India. Indian broadcaster ABP News was reportedly compromised for a short period, during which pro-Pakistan slogans and content related to the Pakistani military appeared on air. Excerpts from speeches by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir also aired during the alleged counterattack.
Officials continue to monitor developments as the investigation remains ongoing.
