ZHOB, Feb 26 – Security forces killed 10 terrorists during a sanitisation operation in Balochistan’s Zhob district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Thursday. The operation on February 25 followed an earlier intelligence-based operation on February 24 in which eight terrorists were neutralised in the same district.
The ISPR stated that the forces conducted a comprehensive area clearance operation to track down militants linked to a banned group identified as “Fitna al Khwarij.” Authorities said the terrorists were engaged at multiple locations, resulting in an exchange of fire that left 10 militants dead. Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the deceased, who were reportedly involved in various terrorist activities across the region. The military emphasized that sanitisation operations are ongoing to eliminate any remaining threats in the area. Officials said the campaign aligns with the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” a counter-terrorism initiative approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, aimed at eradicating foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
ISPR added that the operation demonstrates the security forces’ commitment to maintaining stability and combating extremist elements. Authorities highlighted the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations in tracking down militants and ensuring public safety.
The recent operations reflect an intensified push by the military to dismantle terrorist networks in Balochistan and other high-risk regions. Security officials have reiterated that continuous surveillance and area clearance measures will persist to prevent the resurgence of banned militant outfits and safeguard local communities.
Through coordinated efforts and strategic planning, the forces aim to sustain momentum in the national counter-terrorism campaign and reinforce the state’s authority across vulnerable districts.
