MURREE: The Meteorological Department has issued warnings for Murree and the Galiyat region as a fourth significant snowstorm of the season is expected to hit from Monday evening through Tuesday night. Residents and tourists are urged to take precautionary measures as snowfall is predicted to be accompanied by strong winds and reduced visibility.
District Police Officer (DPO) Murree, Muhammad Raza Tanveer, has directed local police and emergency response teams to remain on high alert. โHeavy snowfall could impact travel and visibility. Residents and tourists must avoid unnecessary movement and ensure their vehicles are equipped with tyre chains, emergency fuel, warm clothing, blankets, and essential supplies,โ DPO Tanveer said.
Rescue 1122 teams and Murree Traffic Police have been deployed at critical points to manage emergencies and assist stranded travelers. Drivers are advised to use fog lights, carry extra fuel, and maintain emergency kits in vehicles.
Meanwhile, snowfall has also been reported in several districts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Qalat, Mastung, Kan Mehtarzai, Muslim Bagh, and Chaman. The Meteorological Department predicts that the wintry spell will continue over the next two days, affecting travel and daily life in these regions as well.
Local authorities are closely monitoring weather conditions and have urged the public to follow safety guidelines. Tourists planning to visit Murree and the Galiyat area during this period are advised to check travel updates and be prepared for sudden weather changes.
