Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, visited the National Police Academy in Islamabad on Tuesday. He interacted with officers of the Police Service of Pakistan and reviewed ongoing training initiatives. Senior officials from the interior ministry were also present during the visit. The visit highlighted the growing emphasis on coordination between security institutions.
Upon arrival, the Field Marshal was received by the commandant of the academy and presented with a guard of honour by a police contingent. He then laid a wreath at the Police Martyrsโ Monument and offered Fateha. He paid tribute to police personnel who lost their lives while safeguarding peace, enforcing the rule of law, and ensuring public safety. He acknowledged their sacrifices in combating terrorism, crime, and internal security threats across the country.
The Field Marshal stressed that police martyrs symbolise courage and national resilience. He recognised that police personnel operate under constant risk. He described their service as central to internal stability and public trust.
During the visit, officials briefed him on the School for High-Impact Elite Law Enforcement Development. The programme focuses on advanced training, specialised skills, and modern policing techniques. He reviewed initiatives aimed at improving professional capacity and operational readiness. He emphasised that modern challenges require continuous training and institutional adaptability.
The Field Marshal also interacted with Cadet Assistant Superintendents of Police. He described the police as the first line of defence for citizens. He stressed their responsibility to protect life, property, and dignity. He urged young officers to uphold professionalism and integrity in their duties.
While addressing senior police leadership, including Inspectors General and Additional Inspectors General, he underlined the importance of inter-agency cooperation. He highlighted that public trust remains essential for effective law enforcement. He stressed that people-centric policing strengthens national security and governance.
The Field Marshal stated that maintaining law and order is a sacred responsibility. He reaffirmed that the armed forces will fully support police personnel. He emphasised that a strong, professional police force is indispensable for internal security and the rule of law.
Senior police officials reaffirmed their commitment to improving policing standards. They pledged to enhance professional capacity and advance institutional reforms. They stated readiness to address contemporary security challenges. The visit reinforced the importance of unified security efforts and signalled continued momentum toward modern, coordinated policing in Pakistan.
