Wedding festivities for Junaid Safdar, son of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, kicked off in grand style on Friday evening at the Sharif family’s Jati Umrah residence in Lahore, beginning with a vibrant emerald-themed mehndi ceremony. The event set the tone for the upcoming celebrations, which will continue through January 18, including the baraat and valima.
Junaid shared his first photograph with bride-to-be Shanzeh, granddaughter of PML-N leader Rohail Asghar, on Instagram, instantly capturing public attention. The mehndi evening was adorned in shades of green, reflecting the theme and creating a lively, festive atmosphere.
The groom, a UK-trained lawyer, looked dashing in a navy HSY sherwani paired with a coordinating brown shawl that added regal elegance to his attire.
Beside him, Shanzeh stunned in a dark green Sabyasachi lehenga, intricately crafted with vibrant accents to enhance the depth and drama of her look. Heavy statement jewellery, a sleek hair bun, and glossy nude makeup by renowned artist Saad Samie completed her elegant ensemble.
CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif was also present in a heavily embellished yellow outfit, providing a striking contrast to the green-themed décor and adding to the visual grandeur of the ceremony.
Throughout the evening, photographs from professional wedding photographers and event managers captured the vibrant décor, coordinated aesthetics, and lively family celebrations, giving netizens a glimpse into the joyous event.
The couple has received warm wishes and prayers from social media users and supporters as they embark on this new chapter together. It is worth noting that this is Junaid Safdar’s second marriage. His first marriage was to Ayesha Saif, daughter of former NAB chairman Saifur Rehman Khan, in 2021, but the couple divorced in 2023, as announced on Instagram.
The Sharif family’s celebrations continue to draw widespread attention, with the upcoming baraat on January 17 and valima on January 18 promising more elaborate and festive gatherings.
