The Government of Japan has provided advanced medical equipment to the Muhammadi Haematology, Oncology Services & Welfare Foundation in Karachi under its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), strengthening diagnostic capacity for blood-related illnesses.
The handover ceremony was held on Thursday and attended by Japanโs Consul General in Karachi, HATTORI Masaru, along with Syed Mehdi Hassan Rizvi, General Secretary of the Muhammadi Foundation, and Dr Dur-e-Naz Jamal, Secretary of the Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority.
As part of the assistance, four state-of-the-art hematology analyzers manufactured in Japan were formally handed over to the foundation. The new equipment will enable Muhammadi Foundation to screen approximately 120 blood samples daily, significantly improving its ability to diagnose blood disorders at an early stage.
According to an official statement, the enhanced diagnostic capacity will allow the foundation to provide timely and quality treatment to patients suffering from blood-related illnesses, many of which require lifelong care. The initiative is expected to benefit a large number of patients, particularly those affected by thalassaemia and other chronic hematological conditions.
Speaking at the ceremony, Consul General HATTORI Masaru emphasised the importance of early diagnosis and proper treatment for patients with blood disorders.
He noted that access to reliable diagnostic services is essential for improving health outcomes and enabling patients requiring lifelong treatment to live with dignity and comfort. He added that the project symbolises the enduring friendship and cooperation between Japan and Pakistan.
Syed Mehdi Hassan Rizvi expressed gratitude to the people and Government of Japan for their continued support. He said the donation would significantly enhance the foundationโs capacity to deliver quality healthcare services to vulnerable patients across Karachi and beyond.
The Government of Japan reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations by continuing to support the Pakistani people and providing timely assistance to local non-governmental organisations working in critical sectors such as healthcare.
