ISLAMABAD: The district administration sealed three indoor sheesha cafes at Bahria Townโs Civic Center in Sohan on Tuesday as authorities intensified their crackdown against illegal indoor sheesha activities in the federal capital. Officials said the action forms part of an enforcement drive aimed at ensuring compliance with government regulations and protecting public health.
Assistant Commissioner Nilore Fahad Shabbir Cheema led the operation and inspected cafes with his enforcement team. During the inspection, officials found three establishments offering indoor sheesha services, which remain strictly banned under existing laws. Consequently, the team sealed the outlets on the spot and documented violations for further action.
Authorities said the operation aimed to implement government directives and deter businesses from violating notified rules. Moreover, the administration reiterated that offering sheesha in enclosed spaces poses health risks and will not be tolerated. Officials stressed that enforcement teams will continue surprise inspections across sectors of Islamabad.
Residents welcome action, officials warn of stricter penalties
The district administration warned cafe owners to comply with the law, cautioning that repeated violations could lead to tougher measures, including heavy fines and permanent closure. Officials added that cooperation from businesses would help avoid escalation.
Meanwhile, residents of Bahria Town welcomed the move and urged authorities to maintain monitoring to stop sealed cafes from reopening illegally. Officials confirmed that the operation forms part of a broader campaign that will expand to other localities, reinforcing the governmentโs commitment to uphold regulations and ensure safer spaces.
