Security Forces Conduct Intelligence-Based Operation in Balochistan
Pakistanโs security forces have killed four terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistanโs Kalat district. The operation was carried out on January 12, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the militaryโs media wing said the operation was launched after receiving credible intelligence. The information pointed to the presence of terrorists linked to an Indian proxy group named โFitna al Hindustan.โ
The ISPR said security forces swiftly moved to the identified location. Troops surrounded the area and engaged the militants. A heavy exchange of fire followed during the operation.
After the firefight, four Indian-sponsored terrorists were killed. The ISPR confirmed that no casualties were reported among the security personnel involved.
Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the terrorists. According to the military, the slain militants were actively involved in multiple terrorist activities in the region. These activities posed a serious threat to peace and stability in Balochistan.
Sanitisation Operations Continue to Eliminate Remaining Threats
The ISPR stated that sanitisation operations are currently underway. These efforts aim to clear the area of any remaining terrorists or facilitators. Security forces are conducting thorough searches to ensure the region is fully secured.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating terrorism. It said the counterterrorism campaign under the vision โAzm-e-Istehkamโ will continue with full force. The goal is to eliminate foreign-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan.
The statement emphasized that Pakistanโs armed forces and law enforcement agencies remain united. They are determined to protect the countryโs sovereignty and ensure public safety.
Balochistan has remained a key focus of security operations. The province has witnessed repeated attempts by militant groups to destabilize the region. Many of these groups are believed to receive foreign support.
The military has repeatedly accused India of sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan. It says such activities aim to disrupt peace and undermine development efforts, especially in border regions.
Rising Terror Incidents and Nationwide Counterterror Efforts
Pakistan has experienced an increase in terrorist incidents in recent years. The surge began after the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan in 2021. Provinces bordering Afghanistan, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, have been the most affected.
Earlier this month, ISPR Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry shared detailed figures. He said security forces conducted 75,175 intelligence-based operations across Pakistan in 2025 alone.
According to the breakdown, 14,658 operations took place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Balochistan saw the highest number with 58,778 operations. The remaining 1,739 operations were conducted in other parts of the country.
Lt Gen Chaudhry said 5,397 terrorist incidents were reported nationwide last year. Of these, 3,811 incidents occurred in KP. Another 1,557 incidents were recorded in Balochistan. Only 29 incidents occurred elsewhere.
He also revealed that 2,597 terrorists were killed during counterterrorism operations in 2025. He noted that civilians and soft targets were deliberately attacked in several major incidents.
According to the ISPR, Afghan militants were involved in all ten major terror attacks reported last year. The military said this highlights the complex regional security challenges Pakistan continues to face.
The ISPR concluded by reaffirming that operations like the Kalat IBO will continue. The aim is to eliminate all threats and ensure lasting peace across the country.
