PCB Shares Two Draft Schedules for Three-Match T20I Series
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has shared a proposed schedule with Cricket Australia for Australiaโs upcoming T20 International tour of Pakistan. According to sources, the PCB has forwarded two draft plans for a three-match T20I series, giving flexibility around travel dates and match arrangements.
The proposed tour is expected to take place in late January and early February. Under the draft schedules, the Australian cricket team may arrive in Pakistan on either January 26 or January 27. The departure dates have been tentatively set for February 2 or February 3, depending on the final itinerary agreed by both boards.
The PCB aims to ensure smooth logistics and security arrangements for the visiting side. Lahore has been proposed as the sole host city for the series. The city has successfully hosted several international teams in recent years, boosting confidence in Pakistanโs ability to stage high-profile cricket events.
Match Dates, Venues, and Weekend Fixtures
Sources indicate that the PCB has proposed January 29 and January 31 as dates for the first two T20 Internationals. The third and final match of the series is expected to be played on February 1. All three matches are likely to take place at the same venue in Lahore, allowing teams to minimize travel.
According to the draft schedule, at least two of the three matches are expected to be played over the weekend. This move is seen as an effort to maximize crowd attendance and television viewership. Weekend fixtures often draw larger audiences and create a festive cricket atmosphere.
If confirmed, the series will mark another important bilateral contest between Pakistan and Australia on Pakistani soil. Cricket fans are eagerly awaiting official confirmation from both boards. The final schedule will be announced once Cricket Australia reviews and approves the proposed plans.
Head-to-Head Record and Current Pakistan Commitments
Pakistan and Australia have a competitive history in T20 International cricket. The two teams have faced each other 28 times in the shortest format. Australia currently holds a slight edge with 14 wins. Pakistan has won 12 matches. One game ended in a tie, while another produced no result.
Meanwhile, Pakistan is already busy with its first international assignment of the year. The national team is currently playing a three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. The series is being held at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium in Dambulla.
The opening match of the Sri Lanka series is being played today. The second and third T20 Internationals are scheduled for January 9 and January 11 at the same venue. The series carries added importance for Pakistan as it serves as key preparation ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup.
The T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place from February 7 to March 8. Strong performances against Sri Lanka and Australia will help Pakistan fine-tune combinations and build momentum before the global tournament.
