LAHORE: Inter-Services Public Relations Director-General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry will address a press conference today, Tuesday, to brief the media on the prevailing security situation and other key national matters. According to official information, the military spokesperson will hold the presser at 2pm.
The briefing comes at a time when Pakistan continues to face a sharp rise in terrorism, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Terror-related incidents have increased significantly since 2021, following the return of the Afghan Taliban to power in Afghanistan. Consequently, security forces and law enforcement agencies remain on high alert across several regions.
Recently, at least five people lost their lives and nine others sustained injuries in terrorism-related incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. On Monday, an improvised explosive device struck a cement factory vehicle in Lakki Marwat district, killing one person and injuring nine others, including two women. Meanwhile, on Sunday, unidentified attackers shot dead four policemen in separate incidents in Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts, further heightening security concerns.
