Rangpur Riders produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat Chattogram Royals by five wickets in the 14th match of the Bangladesh Premier League 2025–26. The match was played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Monday. A rapid half-century from Kyle Mayers highlighted an efficient run chase and sealed Rangpur’s place at the top of the points table.
Chattogram Royals Post Competitive Total
Chattogram Royals were asked to bat first after losing the toss. They posted a competitive total of 169 for five in their allotted 20 overs. The innings recovered well after an early setback at the top.
The Royals lost both openers inside the powerplay. Mohammad Naim scored 16 before getting out, while Mahmudul Hasan Joy managed 12. The early wickets left the team struggling at 48 for two in 5.5 overs.
A steady third-wicket partnership then stabilized the innings. Adam Rossington and Hasan Nawaz added 82 runs together. Rossington anchored the innings with confidence and timing. He scored 58 runs off 41 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes.
The partnership ended on the final ball of the 16th over. Rakibul Hasan dismissed Rossington with a clean delivery. Hasan Nawaz followed soon after in the next over. He was removed by Mustafizur Rahman after scoring 46 from 33 balls, including three sixes and two fours.
The Royals suffered another blow when Asif Ali was dismissed for just one run at the start of the 18th over. Captain Mahedi Hasan and Aamir Jamal then provided late momentum. The pair added an unbeaten 33 runs. Mahedi scored 13, while Jamal finished with 19.
For Rangpur Riders, Akif Javed and Mustafizur Rahman took two wickets each. Rakibul Hasan chipped in with one wicket.
Kyle Mayers Leads Confident Run Chase
Chasing a target of 170, Rangpur Riders made the task look comfortable. They reached the target with five wickets in hand and seven balls remaining.
Kyle Mayers set the tone at the top of the order. The left-hander played an aggressive knock of 50 runs from just 25 deliveries. His innings included five fours and four sixes. Mayers attacked early and put pressure on the Chattogram bowlers.
Dawid Malan and Mahmudullah provided stability in the middle order. Both scored 30 runs, though at different tempos. Malan took 30 balls, while Mahmudullah played a quicker innings from 19 balls and remained not out.
Pakistan’s Khushdil Shah finished the chase in style. He struck 22 runs from 12 balls. His cameo included three boundaries, one of which was a six.
Shoriful Islam was the standout bowler for Chattogram Royals. He claimed three wickets for 37 runs in four overs. Abu Haider and Aamir Jamal picked up one wicket each.
Rangpur Riders Move to the Top
The victory pushed Rangpur Riders to the top of the BPL 2025–26 standings. They now have eight points from five matches. Chattogram Royals slipped to second place. Kyle Mayers was named Player of the Match for his match-winning knock.
