The Balochistan government has imposed Section 144 across the entire province, including the provincial capital Quetta, in an effort to maintain law and order. The decision comes amid ongoing security concerns and aims to prevent unrest, violence, and public disorder in sensitive areas.
According to an official notification issued by the provincial authorities, the restrictions will apply uniformly across all districts of Balochistan. Law enforcement agencies have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the order and take action against violators without exception.
Ban on Weapons, Gatherings, and Public Activities
Under Section 144, the display and carrying of all kinds of weapons have been completely banned across the province. This includes licensed and unlicensed arms. Authorities said the measure is intended to reduce the risk of violence and improve public safety.
The notification also prohibits all forms of public gatherings. Rallies, protests, demonstrations, and meetings at public places are not allowed during the enforcement period. Additionally, the assembly of five or more people at a single location has been banned.
Officials stated that these restrictions are preventive in nature. The aim is to discourage activities that could potentially disturb peace or create security challenges. Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to remain vigilant, particularly in urban centers and sensitive locations.
Double Riding Prohibited Across Province
Another key restriction under Section 144 is the ban on double riding on motorcycles throughout Balochistan. Authorities said the decision was taken due to security considerations, as double riding has previously been linked to criminal activity in several regions.
However, the provincial government has provided exemptions under this rule. Women and children have been excluded from the double riding ban. Officials clarified that families and female passengers will not be stopped under this restriction.
Traffic police and other law enforcement units have been directed to monitor roads and highways closely. Checkpoints may be increased to ensure compliance with the order. Citizens have been advised to cooperate with authorities to avoid inconvenience.
Restrictions to Remain Until January 31, 2026
According to the notification, Section 144 will remain in force across Balochistan until January 31, 2026. The long duration of the order reflects the governmentโs intention to ensure sustained stability and control over the law and order situation.
Authorities have warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the imposed restrictions. Offenders may face arrest, fines, or other penalties under the law.
The provincial administration said the decision was made after careful consideration of the security environment. Officials emphasized that the measures are temporary and preventive, not punitive. The government aims to protect lives, property, and public infrastructure.
Residents have been urged to remain calm and follow the guidelines issued by the authorities. The administration also appealed to political groups and civil society to respect the restrictions in the interest of public safety.
Security analysts believe the enforcement of Section 144 could help reduce tensions in the short term. However, they stress the importance of dialogue and long-term solutions to address underlying challenges in the province.
The Balochistan government reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and stability. Officials said further decisions would be taken based on the evolving situation and security assessments.
