Initial investigation has revealed that the fire caused casualties at the Le Constellation luxury ski resort in Cranz-Montana in Switzerland during the New Year celebrations.
After conducting the initial probe, the Swiss police have dispelled the impression of the bomb blast at the luxury bar, saying the powerful fire created havoc there.
Explosion Triggers Emergency Response
Gaetan Lathion, a police spokesperson in southwestern Switzerland, confirmed that the cause of the explosion remains unknown. He said several people lost their lives, while multiple others suffered injuries of varying severity. Investigators began collecting evidence at the scene to determine what triggered the blast.
The explosion occurred inside Le Constellation, a bar known for attracting tourists and seasonal visitors. At the time of the incident, many people were inside the venue celebrating the New Year. Consequently, authorities feared the casualty count could rise as emergency crews continued search and rescue efforts.
Swiss media published images showing the building engulfed in flames, with thick smoke rising into the night sky. Emergency vehicles and medical personnel surrounded the area as officials worked through the early morning hours. Police urged the public to avoid the vicinity to allow responders to operate without obstruction.
Officials emphasized that public safety remains their top priority. They assured residents and tourists that authorities are taking all necessary measures to secure the area and prevent further risks. As the investigation continues, police said they will release additional details once confirmed information becomes available.
