Dry and cold weather continues across most parts of Punjab, including Lahore, while a rain-bearing weather system is expected to enter Pakistan tonight. The approaching system is likely to bring rainfall to northern regions, along with snowfall in higher elevations, according to official weather forecasts.
Weather officials stated that rain is expected in Murree, the Galiyat, and surrounding northern areas. In addition, snowfall may occur in several mountainous locations, which could further intensify cold conditions. Meanwhile, much of Punjab is expected to remain dry despite the change in weather patterns elsewhere.
During the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather prevailed across most regions of the country. However, northern areas experienced severe cold conditions, with temperatures dropping well below freezing. These conditions have increased risks related to travel and outdoor exposure in high-altitude regions.
Temperature readings from various locations highlighted the intensity of the cold spell. Leh recorded the lowest temperature at minus 10 degrees Celsius. Astore followed with minus 6 degrees, while Gupis reported minus 5 degrees. Skardu, Hunza, and Kalat recorded minimum temperatures of minus 4 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Kalam, Gilgit, Quetta, and Dir recorded lows of minus 3 degrees Celsius.
Weather authorities have advised citizens to take precautionary measures in view of the persistent cold. People living in northern areas have been urged to limit unnecessary travel due to possible snowfall and slippery road conditions. Furthermore, travelers have been advised to stay updated on local weather alerts before planning journeys.
Officials emphasized that sudden weather changes can impact daily life, especially in mountainous regions. Therefore, residents are encouraged to wear warm clothing and ensure heating arrangements are in place. Authorities also warned that snowfall may disrupt road connectivity in certain areas.
The forecast highlights the contrast between dry plains and cold northern regions as winter conditions intensify. While rain may offer relief in some areas, snowfall could create challenges for residents and travelers alike. Continued monitoring of weather updates remains essential in the coming days.
