Cold and Partly Cloudy Weather Dominates Most Regions
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has released a fresh weather update, warning of rain with strong winds in Islamabad and nearby areas today. The department said cold and partly cloudy conditions will continue to prevail across most parts of the country. Winter weather systems are actively influencing Pakistan, increasing the chances of rain, snowfall, and gusty winds in several regions.
According to the Met Office, the current weather pattern may lower daytime temperatures and intensify the winter chill. Citizens have been advised to take precautionary measures, especially during early morning and late-night hours. Cold conditions are expected to persist in both urban and rural areas, affecting daily routines and travel plans.
Rain and Snowfall Expected in Northern and Western Areas
The PMD has forecast rain and snowfall in northern and western Balochistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and the Potohar region. These areas may experience intermittent rain, while higher elevations are likely to receive snowfall.
Islamabad and surrounding areas are expected to witness rain showers accompanied by gusty winds. The weather may remain unsettled throughout the day, with sudden changes in wind intensity. In the northern mountainous belt, snowfall is predicted at various locations, which could significantly reduce visibility and make travel difficult.
Popular tourist destinations such as Murree, Galiyat, Naran, Kaghan, and nearby upper regions are likely to receive snowfall. Authorities have warned that slippery roads and icy conditions could increase the risk of accidents. Tourists and travelers are advised to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during peak snowfall hours.
Fog, Smog and Regional Weather Outlook
In the plains, fog or smog is expected to persist in eastern Punjab and upper Sindh. Reduced visibility may disrupt road traffic, especially during morning and nighttime hours. Motorists are urged to drive slowly and use fog lights where necessary.
In Punjab, rain is forecast for the northern districts, while isolated thunderstorms may develop in some areas. Central and southern districts of the province are likely to remain cold and dry, with partly cloudy skies.
Most districts of Sindh are expected to experience cold and dry weather. However, upper Sindh may see partly cloudy conditions as temperatures continue to drop during the night and early morning.
The PMD also stated that several districts of Balochistan could receive rain, while mountainous parts of the province may experience snowfall. These conditions could affect road connectivity in remote areas.
The department has cautioned that rain and snowfall in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir may disrupt travel and create hazardous road conditions. Travelers are advised to stay updated with weather alerts and follow local safety instructions as winter conditions intensify across the country.
