Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan has vowed to stand firm after receiving a 17-year prison sentence. He said he is prepared to go to the โlast extentโ for public freedom. He added that he would not retreat even an inch from his position.
Khan shared the message after his conviction in the Toshakhana-II case. He conveyed his stance from Adiala Jail during a court hearing. PTI leaders later delivered his message to the public.
PTI Leaders Share Khanโs Statement
PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja addressed a press conference following the hearing. He was joined by Asad Qaiser and Sheikh Waqas Akram.
Raja said Imran Khan met his lawyer Salman Safdar before the hearing. During the meeting, Khan stated he would either secure public freedom or make the ultimate sacrifice. According to Raja, Khan remained resolute despite legal and personal pressures.
Allegations of Solitary Confinement and Restrictions
Salman Akram Raja alleged that Imran Khan is currently held in solitary confinement. He described the situation as unacceptable in any civilised society. He said no former prime minister faces such treatment anywhere in the world.
Raja also criticised authorities for barring Khanโs family and lawyers from court proceedings. He called the restrictions highly condemnable. He rejected official claims that Khan enjoys unrestricted access to legal counsel and relatives.
Claims of Political Targeting and Judicial Disappointment
PTI leaders claimed preparations are underway for another fabricated case against Imran Khan. They alleged the proceedings may take place through video link. Raja described this as further evidence of political victimisation.
He said Khan believes the judiciary has failed to deliver justice. According to Raja, Khan feels all legal avenues have now closed. He added that Khan sees no hope of relief through the judicial system.
PTI Announces Street Protest Movement
Salman Akram Raja urged the public to rise against what he termed an unjust system. He said Imran Khan remains steadfast with the nation despite hardships. He stressed that Khan will not compromise on principles of freedom.
Raja announced that PTI has begun preparations for nationwide protests. The party aims to demand justice through street mobilisation. He also expressed concern over Bushra Bibiโs arrest, calling it politically motivated.
Concerns Over Economic Inequality
PTI leaders criticised current government policies. They claimed the system continues to benefit the elite. They warned that the gap between rich and poor is widening rapidly.
