The Federal Directorate of Education has confirmed winter holidays for all institutions under its administration. According to the notification, model schools and colleges in Islamabad will close from December 26.
All educational institutions will remain closed until January 3. Since January 4 falls on a Sunday, classes will resume from Monday, January 5, 2026.
This schedule applies to schools and colleges functioning under the federal education framework in the capital. The announcement provides clarity for parents, students, and staff planning the winter period.
Why Winter Vacations Were Announced Nationwide
Education authorities across Pakistan have announced winter breaks to address severe seasonal conditions. Thick fog, cold waves, and snowfall continue to disrupt daily routines in several regions.
As a result, officials prioritized health and safety for students and teaching staff. These measures also aim to reduce travel risks during extreme weather.
Winter Vacation Dates in Other Provinces

Public and private educational institutions in Sindh will observe winter holidays from December 22 to December 31. Schools across the province are scheduled to reopen on January 1.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, winter holidays vary based on climatic zones. Institutions in the summer zone will close from January 1 to January 15.
Meanwhile, schools and colleges in winter zones will observe an extended break. These institutions will remain closed from December 22, 2025, to February 28, 2026.
Provincial authorities confirmed this schedule to accommodate harsher weather conditions in colder areas.
What Parents and Students Should Know
These staggered schedules reflect regional climate differences across Pakistan. Therefore, families should confirm dates with their respective institutions.
Timely planning will help avoid confusion once academic activities resume. Moreover, students can use the break for rest and revision.
