Abbottabad police have intensified investigations in the murder of Dr Warda, uncovering critical evidence linked to the crime. As the probe advanced, officers recovered gold, financial documents, and the alleged murder weapon from the suspects.
According to police officials, investigators also sought extended physical remand of the accused due to the case’s sensitivity. Therefore, authorities aim to complete remaining investigative requirements without delay.
Gold, Cheques, and Weapon Recovered
Police confirmed the recovery of gold and ten financial receipts from Waheed Billa. He is the husband of alleged mastermind Rida Jadoon. Moreover, investigators seized cheques worth Rs123 million from the suspects’ possession.
Officers also recovered a rope believed to have been used in the murder. The suspects identified the item during interrogation. Consequently, police described the recovery as a significant breakthrough in the case.
Planning of the Crime Uncovered
Investigators revealed that the crime was planned in multiple stages. Initially, the abduction and murder plan was prepared at Waheed Billa’s house. Waheed, Rida, and Nadeem were allegedly involved at this stage.
Later, a second planning meeting took place at Waheed’s shop. This meeting reportedly included Waheed, Nadeem, and Shamraiz. Finally, the plan was finalized at Sheikh Dheri, involving Shamraiz, Nadeem, and Parvez.
Police stated that Parvez has confessed to his role in the killing. Meanwhile, all planning locations and the crime scene have been legally identified.
Court Proceedings and Remand Request
Investigators have approached the Peshawar High Court seeking renewed physical remand of the suspects. Police said all available evidence and witnesses have already been presented before the court. Therefore, further custody is required to conclude pending investigations.
Background of the Case
Dr Warda served as a doctor at Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Hospital in Abbottabad. She was abducted on December 4. Her body was found four days later in a suburban area of the district.
Earlier, police reported that absconding suspect Shamraiz was killed during an encounter in the Thandiani forests. Meanwhile, four other suspects were arrested during ongoing operations.
Motive and Financial Trail
Investigators believe the murder was premeditated and driven by greed for gold. Police allege Dr Warda entrusted gold to Rida two years ago, which was never returned.
Furthermore, authorities claim Rida used sixteen bank accounts under different names. These accounts allegedly handled deposits exceeding seventy tolas of gold. Investigations into the case are still ongoing.
