The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority has notified revised prices of re-gasified liquefied natural gas for December. The authority announced a reduction in RLNG rates for both major gas distribution companies. The revised prices apply to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited and Sui Southern Gas Company.
According to the official notification, the new rates are effective from December 1. The decision reflects a downward revision compared to the previous month. As a result, RLNG consumers connected to these networks may see some relief.
Reduced RLNG Rate for Sui Northern
For Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, OGRA reduced the RLNG price by 4.61 percent. The revised rate has been fixed at $11.82 per MMBtu. This adjustment applies for the entire month of December.
The reduction marks a notable change in input gas costs. RLNG remains a key component of the energy supply mix. Therefore, even modest price movements attract attention from industrial and commercial users.
Lower RLNG Price Set for Sui Southern
OGRA also announced a cut in the RLNG price for Sui Southern Gas Company. The authority reduced the rate by 5.90 percent. The revised price now stands at $10.77 per MMBtu.
Compared to Sui Northern, the reduction for Sui Southern is relatively higher in percentage terms. This difference reflects variations in supply and cost structures. However, both companies will implement the new rates from the same effective date.
Effective Date and Regulatory Process
OGRA confirmed that the revised RLNG prices take effect from December 1. The notification was issued on Monday. The authority follows a monthly review mechanism for RLNG pricing.
This process involves adjusting prices based on applicable cost components. Each revision aims to reflect prevailing conditions without delay. Therefore, monthly notifications remain an important reference for stakeholders.
Significance for the Energy Sector
RLNG prices influence a wide range of consumers. Industries, power producers, and commercial entities closely track such changes. Lower RLNG rates can help manage operational costs.
At the same time, pricing adjustments highlight ongoing regulatory oversight. OGRA continues to monitor and revise energy prices within its mandate. These notifications ensure transparency in gas pricing.
