ISLAMABAD: The senior police officer of Abbottabad has revealed shocking details about the murder of Dr Warda and the hirelings who were paid Rs 3 million to kidnap and kill Warda.
The District Police Officer, Abbottabad, Haroon Rasheed, has asked the Federal Investigation Agency to investigate the money trail in the murder case of Dr Warda Mushtaq. He stated that the prime accused paid three million rupees for her abduction and killing.
He said the payment has raised suspicion of possible money-laundering activity. The DPO stressed that the case requires urgent financial scrutiny to support ongoing legal action. He called the matter extremely sensitive and urged the FIA to provide information without delay.
Investigators Request Complete Financial Records
The police have sought financial records of nominated suspects Rida Jadoon, Abdul Waheed, and Nadeem. They requested full details of suspicious transactions linked to the accused. Investigators also asked for information on past money-laundering inquiries, travel history, restrictions, and watch-list status. The DPO said that financial data will help determine the source of the alleged payment. He added that the information will also support all upcoming legal steps in the case.
Case Timeline Reveals Planned Abduction and Killing
The development comes as investigators continue to examine the killing of Dr Warda. She served as a medical officer at the Abbottabad DHQ Hospital. She was abducted outside the facility on December 4. The DPO said she was killed barely an hour after her kidnapping. Her body was recovered four days later near Thandiani.
Hospital officials confirmed that the post-mortem examination had been completed. Sources said she lived with her children while her husband remained abroad. They added that she had been preparing to travel overseas at the time of her death.
Gold Dispute Emerges as Key Motive
Sources said she had been worried about sixty-seven tolas of gold in her possession. Her friend, identified as suspect Rida Jadoon, allegedly persuaded her to deposit the gold as an amanat. Police later discovered that the gold had been pawned. They learned that five million rupees had been obtained against it. Investigators now believe the dispute over the gold played a central role in the murder plot.
Multiple Arrests Made as One Suspect Remains at Large
Police have arrested prime suspect Rida Jadoon, her employee Nadeem and their relative Pervaiz. Another major suspect, Shamraiz, remains at large. The arrested suspects belong to the same village where the body was found. Police have conducted raids in several areas, including Peshawar, to locate the absconding suspect.
Investigators said the suspects took Dr Warda to an under-construction house in Jinnahabad. She was strangled to death within an hour of her abduction. Her body was later buried in a forested area near Thandiani. Police have seized both vehicles used in the crime.
Court Grants Remand as JIT Formation Moves Forward
The three arrested suspects were produced before the Anti-Terrorism Court. The court approved a three-day physical remand. Police also added Abdul Waheed, the husband of Rida, to the case as a nominated accused.
Authorities earlier decided to form a joint investigation team to ensure an independent inquiry.
The proposed JIT will include officers from the provincial administration, CTD, Special Branch, Abbottabad Police and the prosecution. The request cites the post-mortem report, which notes death by strangulation and suffocation. It also mentions a broken neck, scratches on the shoulder, arm and palm, and swelling around the eyes.
