The Islamabad Transport Authority (ITA) has extended the deadline for mandatory vehicle emission testing and M-Tag installation by one week, according to a report by 24NewsHD. The extension applies to inter-city, inter-district, and inter-provincial transport operators, giving them a final seven-day window to comply with the updated requirements.
Transport Operators Given Final Seven-Day Ultimatum
Authorities have issued a strict warning to all transport operators: failure to complete both emission testing and M-Tag installation within the extended deadline will lead to the cancellation of their bus stand No Objection Certificate (NOC). This measure aims to ensure that all commercial vehicles meet environmental standards and adhere to the toll collection system on major motorways.
Officials emphasized that this final extension serves as a last opportunity for operators who have not yet completed the process. The initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to reduce pollution and improve monitoring of public transport vehicles.
Daily Reporting Made Mandatory
The ITA has also directed all bus terminals to submit daily inspection reports along with M-Tag compliance updates. These daily submissions are intended to help authorities track progress and identify operators who fail to meet regulatory obligations.
Strict legal action has been promised against any violations. The ITA reiterated its stance that improving transport safety and environmental standards remains a top priority and warned that non-compliant operators will face consequences without exceptions.
