Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed all commissioners and deputy commissioners to strictly enforce regulations on loudspeakers and ensure full implementation of the one-dish rule at weddings and private events across the province. The move aims to curb noise pollution, discourage extravagance and ensure consistent compliance with government laws.
Action Against Illegal Loudspeaker Use at All Events
CM Maryam has instructed authorities to take immediate legal action against the unauthorized use of loudspeakers during Qawwali nights, in marriage halls and at farmhouses. Officials have been tasked with actively monitoring noise levels and ensuring that event organizers abide by approved limits.
She also ordered restrictions on marriage hall operating hours, emphasizing that no violations will be tolerated. To further strengthen accountability, officials who fail to enforce these directives will be barred from attending wedding ceremonies themselves.
One-Dish Rule Expanded to All Private Venues
In a major decision, the Punjab government has expanded the one-dish rule beyond marriage halls to include farmhouses, open grounds and all private event venues. The purpose is to reduce wasteful spending and promote simpler, more regulated social gatherings.
District officers have been directed to ensure strict compliance. Events found violating the one-dish rule or engaging in illegal loudspeaker usage will face legal consequences.
The new enforcement drive highlights the provincial government’s commitment to tackling noise pollution, preventing excessive spending at social events and ensuring that laws are implemented uniformly across Punjab.
