The government in Kuwait announced six public holidays for January 2026 for the New Year and other important events.
Officials confirmed a three-day New Year holiday. The break will begin on Thursday, January 1, and it will continue through Saturday, January 3. Therefore, the government offices will resume work on Sunday, January 4.
The announcement was published through local media reports. Authorities said the schedule aims to streamline leave planning for residents.
Three-Day Holiday Set for Isra and Mi’raj
The government also approved a three-day break for Isra and Mi’raj. The observance will fall on Friday, January 16. Friday already serves as a weekly public holiday in Kuwait. The break will therefore extend through January 16, 17, and 18.
Officials designated Sunday, January 18, as a compensatory holiday. Government operations will resume on Monday, January 19.
Authorities expect the schedule to facilitate smooth administrative planning. They also anticipate increased domestic travel during the extended weekends.
