The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise Department is set to launch a new auction system for fancy and special vehicle number plates. This move aims to formalize and regulate the issuance of premium plates across the province.
Proposed Pricing Structure
According to the proposed amendments, fancy number plates will be available for a maximum fee of Rs150,000. Premium special plates, however, will have a base price of Rs1 million, reflecting their exclusivity. Additionally, plates featuring three identical letters or three identical digits will carry a price of Rs100,000.
Public Consultation on New Rules
Authorities have invited the public to share objections or suggestions regarding the amended rules. A 15-day window has been announced for citizens to provide feedback, ensuring that the auction system meets public expectations.
Formalization and Benefits
This initiative is designed to standardize the issuance of unique number plates and provide transparency in pricing. It also introduces a competitive environment where vehicle owners can bid for their desired plates. The auction system is expected to enhance the revenue collection of the Excise Department while offering exclusive options to vehicle owners.
Auction Process and Transparency
The department aims to conduct open auctions, ensuring fair participation and transparency. All interested parties can participate in the bidding process, which will be governed under the revised rules once approved.
By implementing this auction system, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise Department is taking steps to modernize vehicle registration while offering exclusivity to vehicle owners. Public participation in the feedback process will help refine the regulations and promote accountability.
