ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad administration has expanded its vehicle emission testing facilities to improve environmental compliance. Officials increased inspection sites from one to four, creating easier access for motorists. The initiative aims to strengthen the city’s ongoing fight against rising pollution levels. Authorities believe wider coverage will encourage more drivers to follow environmental laws.
New Testing Points Offer Greater Convenience
Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon confirmed the addition of three new testing points across the capital. Motorists can now undergo emission checks at Lake View Park, F-9 Park, and Metro Cash and Carry. The original inspection point at D-Chowk remains fully operational. He visited all four locations and reviewed the facility arrangements. He urged citizens to get their vehicles inspected without delay to avoid penalties. He said timely checks could improve compliance and reduce dangerous emissions.
Crackdown Strengthens Enforcement Measures
Earlier this week, the Islamabad Transport Authority began a major crackdown on smoke-emitting vehicles. Officials launched the campaign to help maintain a healthier Air Quality Index in the federal capital. They announced that every driver must now carry a Vehicular Emission Clearance Certificate. They warned that no vehicle will be allowed on city roads without this required document. Enforcement teams continue to monitor traffic to ensure strict compliance.
Authorities Commit to Cleaner Air Goals
Chairman Irfan Memon reiterated that smoke-emitting vehicles will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He highlighted the severe environmental damage caused by unchecked emissions. He directed staff to submit daily performance reports to maintain transparency and continuity. He stressed that sustained enforcement can support long-term pollution control goals. He assured citizens that the administration will continue strengthening regulations to protect public health.
