PESHAWAR: The Counter Terrorism Department has registered a case after the deadly attack on the Federal Constabulary headquarters in Peshawar. The FIR includes terrorism charges and relies on the complaint filed by local SHO Abdullah Jalal. The report states that the attackers threatened national security and damaged government property during the assault.
Attackers Breach FC Headquarters During Assault
According to the FIR, three terrorists launched the attack on the FC headquarters. One attacker detonated himself at the main gate to breach the security barrier. Two other attackers entered the compound while firing at security personnel. Police officials recovered more than 27 shell casings from the attack site.
Security Personnel Respond Swiftly to Attack
The suicide blast martyred three FC personnel and injured eleven others. Emergency teams shifted the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment. Security units scanned the compound to ensure no additional threats remained. Investigators collected evidence from the scene to support the ongoing inquiry.
Forces Foil Further Damage During Second Attempt
Authorities raised the security alert after the Peshawar attack to minimise further risks. Earlier on Monday, FC personnel had foiled another assault on their headquarters. A suicide bomber targeted the main gate during that incident. However, FC forces killed two militants in a swift and coordinated response. Their timely action prevented additional casualties and damage.
Probe Continues as CTD Seeks More Leads
Investigators continue to analyse forensic evidence gathered from both incidents. Officials also review CCTV footage to identify any facilitators. The CTD aims to track the attackers’ network and prevent similar incidents. Security agencies have intensified patrols around sensitive installations across Peshawar.
