The Balochistan Home Department has announced a comprehensive set of restrictions across the province, invoking Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to address rising security concerns.
The order, issued with immediate effect, targets a range of activities considered potential threats to public safety and aims to give law enforcement greater control during this sensitive period.
Under the directives, the display and use of weapons in public spaces is strictly prohibited. Authorities have also barred pillion riding on motorcycles, except for women and children, citing its frequent misuse in acts of violence and targeted attacks.
The use of tinted vehicle glasses has also been banned, as such modifications hinder identification and surveillance efforts. Motorcycles without registration plates are similarly disallowed, addressing their involvement in criminal mobility and evasion.
The order imposes further limitations by banning all forms of public gatherings involving five or more individuals. This includes rallies, sit-ins, processions, and other assemblies that could potentially escalate into security incidents or disturb public order.
In an additional step to support identification and surveillance, the government has prohibited covering faces in public with masks, mufflers, or any other means that conceal identity. This measure is intended to prevent the concealment of individuals involved in unlawful activities.
To restrict access to hazardous substances, the movement of sulphuric acid and explosive materials across Balochistan has also been banned.
Law enforcement bodiesโincluding police, Levies and Frontier Corpsโhave been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the new regulations. Any violations will be treated as offences under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code, alongside other applicable legal provisions.
Deputy commissioners across the province are required to submit daily enforcement reports to the Home Department. These measures will remain in force until the end of November, forming part of the governmentโs broader effort to maintain security and stability during the current environment.
