ISLAMABAD: Security forces have neutralised 23 militants in separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwaโs Kurram district, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations on Thursday. The militaryโs media wing said the operations aimed to curb terrorism under the ongoing national counterterror campaign.
Twelve Militants Killed in First Targeted Operation
The ISPR said troops launched a targeted operation on November 19 after receiving credible reports about militant presence. Forces engaged the militants after an intense exchange of fire and neutralised twelve attackers. Officials said the troops acted on confirmed intelligence to disrupt the militantsโ movement and prevent future attacks.
Second Operation Eliminates Eleven More Militants
The ISPR said forces launched another intelligence-based operation in the same area after receiving information about a second group of militants. Troops successfully neutralised eleven more militants during the engagement. The media wing added that both operations were planned to ensure maximum disruption of militant networks operating in the region.
Sanitisation Efforts Continue in Affected Zones
Security forces are now conducting sanitisation operations across the area to clear remaining threats. Officials said these efforts aim to ensure that no hostile elements remain hidden in the region. The ISPR stressed that the counterterror campaign will continue without any pause.
Campaign Advances Under Vision โAzm-e-Istehkamโ
The ISPR reiterated that Pakistan will maintain full operational momentum under the broader vision of โAzm-e-Istehkam.โ The initiative was approved by the federal apex committee on the National Action Plan. Officials said the campaign seeks to eliminate all forms of foreign-sponsored terrorism with support from security forces and law enforcement agencies.
They added that the state remains committed to ensuring lasting peace in affected districts through sustained operations.
