ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Excise and Taxation Department has launched a new digital service allowing overseas Pakistanis to register and transfer vehicles through the NADRA Pak ID mobile app, marking a major step toward digital convenience and efficiency.
Director Excise Bilal Azam announced that the initiative will eliminate the need for embassy visits or the submission of powers of attorney, making the process faster and easier for Pakistanis living abroad.
He explained that overseas citizens can now download the Pak ID app, record their biometrics, and the Excise Department will process the vehicle registration or transfer remotely. The biometric data submitted through the app will serve as proof of identity, removing the need for separate transfer order forms.
Bilal Azam also emphasized the importance of proper documentation, stating, “Whenever you sell a vehicle, please sign your transfer letter and hand it over to the buyer.” He clarified that both a signed transfer letter and biometric verification are essential legal requirements for ownership transfer.
In addition, the department plans to launch a recovery drive to collect outstanding token taxes in Islamabad, ensuring better compliance and revenue generation.
This initiative reflects the government’s broader vision of digital transformation and public service accessibility, making administrative procedures easier for Pakistanis around the world.
