The Punjab government has disbursed Rs6.39 billion among families affected by recent floods across the province. The initiative falls under the Punjab Flood Rehabilitation Programme, which aims to provide timely financial assistance to those who lost homes and livelihoods during the disaster.
According to official data, assessment surveys have been completed in 90 percent of the flood-affected areas. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) compiled information on nearly 569,000 families impacted by the calamity.
Verified Data Ensures Transparency
To maintain transparency, data for over 463,000 victims has been verified through respective deputy commissioners. This verification step ensures that only genuine beneficiaries receive compensation.
Additionally, the PDMA has partnered with the Bank of Punjab to prepare more than 98,000 ATM cards for affected families. These cards enable victims to conveniently withdraw relief funds without delays or irregularities.
Disbursement Through Camps and ATMs
The distribution process began on October 20 in 13 districts, marking the first phase of the operation. The second phase, covering the remaining districts, will commence on November 3.
For smooth implementation, 37 camps have been set up across 27 flood-hit districts. Each camp serves as a local relief center where families can receive compensation and access banking services. The Bank of Punjab’s ATMs facilitate daily withdrawals of up to Rs300,000, ensuring easy access to funds.
Relief Reaches Remote Areas
Camps have been established across 36 tehsils including Bahawalnagar, Depalpur, Jhang, Nankana Sahib, Muzaffargarh, Chiniot, and Khairpur Tamewali. Each affected family receives Rs50,000 in financial aid.
This systematic approach reflects the government’s focus on transparency, accessibility, and efficient resource distribution.
As Punjab moves forward with its second phase, the programme continues to offer hope to thousands of families rebuilding their lives after the floods.
