ISLAMABAD: The government has approved Islamabad’s first Command and Control Center under the Smart Islamabad Initiative, a Rs. 708 million project designed to modernize city management through artificial intelligence and real-time data integration.
According to official documents, the Planning Division has already released Rs. 250 million for the project’s initial phase. The initiative includes the creation of a centralized Command and Control Center, installation of smart sensors and devices, and development of an AI-driven platform for real-time urban monitoring.
A Model for Smart City Transformation
Officials stated that the Smart Islamabad Initiative will serve as a national model, integrating urban services under one digital platform to enhance coordination and efficiency. The fusion center will connect officers from multiple departments, centralizing access to essential city services and enabling faster, data-backed decision-making.
NITB Invites Technical Proposals
The National Information Technology Board (NITB), under the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, has invited conceptual and technical proposals for the Fusion Center Project. The initiative focuses on improving public service delivery through advanced e-governance and replicable digital systems that strengthen coordination across Government-to-Government (G2G) and Government-to-Citizen (G2C) services.
According to the NITB, sealed bids are open to firms registered with the Income Tax and Sales Tax departments and listed as Active Taxpayers by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). Tender documents are available for free download from the NITB and PPRA websites.
A pre-bid meeting will take place at the NITB office in Islamabad on the same day at NITB headquarters on October 25.
