Capital-Wide Closures and Diversions Implemented to Manage Traffic Flow
Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has announced a revised traffic plan across the federal capital due to ongoing law and order concerns. The updated plan, released on October 12, introduces major road closures and diversions, especially around Faizabad and adjoining areas. The public has been strongly advised to use alternate routes and stay updated via official channels.
According to ITP officials, the entry of all heavy traffic into Islamabad is suspended until further notice. Multiple roads are closed entirely, while others remain open with restricted or diverted access. Security has been heightened in key areas, particularly around the Red Zone and high-sensitivity locations.
Key Road Closures and Partial Restrictions Announced
Several main arteries have been completely shut, including:

Open Routes and Motorway Access for Uninterrupted Travel
Despite the extensive closures, several key corridors remain open to maintain citywide mobility. These include:

Entry into Islamabad via motorways also remains open with single entry and exit on both M-1 (from Peshawar) and M-2 (from Lahore).
Public Advisory and ITP Support Measures in Place
ITP has deployed additional personnel at key junctions and alternate routes to help guide commuters and ensure smoother traffic flow. Citizens are advised to pay close attention to diversion signs, avoid unnecessary travel near restricted zones, and stay connected via FM 92.4 and the official ITP WhatsApp channel for live updates.
The police urged citizens to cooperate with authorities and follow instructions to avoid congestion and maintain public safety.
