Murree Road Revitalized Under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s Leadership
On the special directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the upgradation of Rawalpindi’s historic Murree Road has been completed. Once damaged and neglected, the city’s main artery has now transformed into a modern, clean, and green corridor. This massive development project reflects the Punjab government’s strong vision for sustainable and eco-friendly urban renewal. Moreover, the initiative highlights Maryam Nawaz’s commitment to creating livable and beautiful cities across the province.
Green Corridors and New Public Facilities for Citizens
Maryam Nawaz announced that a tennis court has been constructed under the Sixth Road Bridge for citizens, especially young people. Additionally, the once-neglected areas under and around Sixth Road now feature lush plants, flowers, and trees. In the past, these spaces were used as garbage dumps, but they have now become welcoming public spots. Furthermore, new waiting areas have been established on both Sixth and Seventh Roads. These spots provide citizens with comfortable seating spaces to relax and enjoy the environment.
Beautification Stretching from Chandni Chowk to the Metro Route
The Chief Minister also revealed that the renovation of the iconic clock tower at Chandni Chowk has been completed. At the same time, beautiful flowerbeds and decorative plants now enhance both sides of Murree Road and the metro route. Moreover, the pillars of the metro bridge have been artistically wrapped in green vines and colourful flowers. This beautification effort has added new life, charm, and visual appeal to the city’s busiest corridor.
A Cleaner, Brighter, and Healthier Rawalpindi
Maryam Nawaz declared that Murree Road is now a dust-free, vibrant garden, illuminated with elegant lighting at night. She described the upgraded Murree Road as a “gift to the beautiful-hearted people of Rawalpindi.” The transformation, she said, will help reduce pollution while providing citizens with a more enjoyable travel experience. Furthermore, the project promotes environmental sustainability and urban pride among residents.
Commitment to a Modern and Green Punjab
The Chief Minister appreciated the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) and her entire team for their exceptional efforts. Congratulating the citizens, she recalled that under Nawaz Sharif’s vision, Murree Road and the Metro were initially built. Now, their repair, cleanliness, and beauty have been fully ensured. Finally, she reaffirmed her resolve to make every city of Punjab a clean, green, and modern urban model equipped with top-class civic facilities.
