A powerful explosion struck near Zarghoon Road in Quetta on Tuesday, killing at least five people and injuring over 20. The attack created chaos in the city, as law enforcement agencies and rescue workers rushed to the scene.
Emergency Declared in Hospitals
Following the blast, an emergency was declared at Quetta’s Civil Hospital, BMC Hospital, and the trauma centre. The directive came from Balochistan Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar. Health officials confirmed that medical teams are working around the clock to treat the injured.
Attack Claimed as Suicide Blast
Security sources reported that the incident was a suicide attack carried out by Indian-backed Fitna al Khawarij. According to preliminary reports, all six terrorists involved were dressed as Frontier Corps (FC) personnel. They also died in the blast, while two FC personnel sustained injuries.
Terrorists Neutralized in the Operation
Authorities confirmed that the suicide bomber detonated explosives near the area, triggering the deadly explosion. However, security forces responded swiftly to avoid further damage. The rescue teams recovered the bodies of the attackers for identification.
Heightened Security Measures in Quetta
Law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the area to conduct a thorough search operation. Additionally, checkpoints across Quetta have been reinforced, and patrolling has been intensified to prevent further incidents. Officials said investigations are underway to determine additional links of the attackers.
Government’s Response
Provincial authorities have strongly condemned the attack, vowing strict action against those behind the violence. They reiterated that the sacrifice of security forces will not go in vain and that peace efforts will continue.
