An American paraglider, Jessica Courtney Green, 40, was airlifted by a Pakistan Army Aviation helicopter from Rush Lake in Nagar. The alpine lake, situated at 4,694 metres, is one of the highest in the world.
Incident During Paragliding Adventure
Jessica and Australian paraglider Shane Owen Tighe, 35, had taken off from Karimabad, Hunza, on Saturday. Both paragliders planned to land at Rush Lake, about 50 kilometres away. However, Jessica was forced to make a crash-landing, sustaining leg injuries.
Injuries and Immediate Response
Local police reported that her condition appeared stable at first. Later, sources confirmed she had also suffered broken ribs and an ankle injury. After the crash, her fellow paraglider used a satellite phone to alert a friend, who quickly arranged rescue assistance.

Rakaposhi Expedition Underway
In another development, two American climbers, Dane Christensen and Craig Orion Lutwyler, have started their Rakaposhi expedition. The mountain, rising 7,788 metres, is one of Pakistan’s most iconic peaks. With permits issued by the Gilgit-Baltistan tourism department, the climbers began their ascent from base camp on Monday. They are supported by two local high-altitude porters and plan to complete the climb within one month.
