LAHORE: Lahore police have exposed a dangerous and new pattern of car snatching after an alarming incident in Iqbal Town. The crime occurred on September 23 in Neelum Block, where suspects used deception and force to steal a car.
How the Incident Happened
CCTV footage captured the entire sequence of events. First, a suspect riding a motorcycle deliberately rammed into the rear of a car. When the female driver stepped out to inspect the damage, the biker quickly sped away. Immediately, another suspect approached the driver’s side of the car and entered it before locking the doors.
The woman tried to stop the theft by pulling the door handles. She even stood in front of her car to block the thief. However, the suspect pointed a pistol at her, struck her with the vehicle, and escaped.
Police Operation and Arrests
Police launched a large-scale operation to track the culprits. They used more than 300 Safe City and local cameras across several districts. This extensive surveillance helped police trace and arrest both suspects, eventually leading to the recovery of the stolen car.
Criminal Background of the Suspects
Officials revealed shocking details during the investigation. One of the accused, identified as Farooq Rikaardi, is a habitual criminal. Police records show that at least five cases are already registered against him in different police stations.
