KASHMORE: Police have arrested TikToker Uroosa Solangi for her involvement in honey traps in connivance with the Katcha area dacoits. Authorities stated that Solangi played a key role in facilitating abductions in the riverine “katcha” areas.
Evolution of Honey-Trap Tactics
According to police, criminal gangs in the katcha belt initially used fake female voices to deceive unsuspecting victims. They tricked people across the country into visiting remote hideouts, where they were abducted for ransom.
When this tactic became exposed, gangs shifted to offering cheap vehicles as bait. Victims who traveled to claim the offers were instead kidnapped and released after payment of hefty ransoms.
In recent years, these gangs embraced digital methods. They began using social media influencers, especially TikTokers, to target victims with greater sophistication.
Uroosa Solangi’s Alleged Role
Investigators revealed that Uroosa Solangi allegedly targeted men from different cities by feigning romantic interest. She would engage them through video calls, building trust before persuading them to meet in person.
Once the victims arrived in the katcha area, they were handed over to dacoits. Police confirmed that Solangi has now been taken into custody on charges of aiding honey-trap kidnappings.
Evidence retrieved from her mobile phone reportedly provides undeniable proof of her involvement in several abduction cases. Officials emphasized that the recovered data strengthens the case against her.
Police Investigation and Next Steps: TikToker Uroosa Solangi Arrested for Honey-Trap for Katcha Dacoits
Police disclosed that Solangi lured men under the pretext of meeting, ultimately delivering them to criminal gangs. This modern method, officials said, highlights how organized crime groups exploit digital platforms to continue illegal operations.
Authorities vowed to expand investigations, focusing on other possible influencers linked with gangs in the katcha belt. They added that more arrests could follow as evidence continues to surface.
