Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will travel to Doha to attend the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit scheduled for Monday. The high-level meeting has been called in response to Israel’s escalating aggression, including airstrikes on Doha and continued violence in Palestine.
The summit is being co-sponsored by Pakistan, reflecting its active role in regional diplomacy. Leaders from member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) are expected to participate. The agenda will focus on condemning Israel’s occupation of Gaza, settlement expansion in the West Bank, and the forced displacement of Palestinians.
Preparations Underway Ahead of Summit
A preparatory meeting of foreign ministers will take place on Sunday. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will represent Pakistan at the session. This preparatory dialogue aims to finalize a collective response to the crisis, ensuring that the Muslim world presents a united front during the main summit.
Pakistan’s Stance on Israel’s Aggression
Pakistan has consistently condemned Israel’s aggression in the Middle East. The country has voiced strong opposition to attacks targeting Doha and other regional states. By co-sponsoring the summit, Pakistan is reaffirming its commitment to stand with Palestine and support efforts to safeguard the sovereignty of Qatar.
Strengthening Relations With Qatar
Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Qatar. Earlier this month, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Doha to hold meetings with Qatari leadership. During the visit, he expressed Pakistan’s unwavering support for Qatar’s security and sovereignty. His statements underscored the shared commitment of both nations to regional peace, cooperation, and stability.
A Step Toward Regional Unity
The Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha is expected to serve as a platform for uniting Muslim leaders against occupation and instability in the Middle East. Pakistan’s active participation highlights its role as a strong advocate for peace and justice in Palestine while reinforcing solidarity with Qatar.
As regional tensions continue to escalate, the Doha summit may become a turning point in mobilizing global awareness and building collective action against Israel’s policies.
