Türkiye Expresses Solidarity and Offers Assistance Following Widespread Flood Damage
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday received a telephone call from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who extended heartfelt condolences and expressed solidarity with Pakistan in the wake of catastrophic floods affecting various regions of the country.
During the conversation, President Erdogan expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and property due to the flooding. He assured Prime Minister Sharif that Türkiye stands ready to provide all possible assistance, including help with rescue, relief, and rehabilitation operations.
The Turkish president’s call came as a gesture of brotherhood and enduring bilateral ties. He reaffirmed Ankara’s unwavering support for the people of Pakistan during this difficult time.
Leaders Reaffirm Strong Bilateral Ties and Future Engagements
In response, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked President Erdogan for his compassionate words and generous offer of support. He said the gesture once again highlighted the deep-rooted, time-tested relationship between Pakistan and Türkiye.
He noted that both countries have consistently supported each other during times of crisis, reflecting a bond grounded in mutual respect, cultural affinity, and strategic cooperation.
The two leaders also recalled their recent meetings earlier this year and expressed optimism about reconnecting soon at the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, China.
