Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has departed for a five-day official visit to Japan, marking the first time a provincial chief minister from Pakistan has undertaken a state-level visit to the country.
The trip, announced Friday, comes at the invitation of the Japanese government. Senior officials saw off CM Maryam and her delegation at Lahore Airport.
The delegation includes Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Provincial Information Minister Azma Bokhari, Sohaib Bharath, Zeeshan Rafiq, Special Assistant Sania Ashiq, and senior government officers.
During her stay, Maryam Nawaz will visit Tokyo, Osaka, and Yokohama, attend the World Expo in Osaka, meet senior Japanese officials, and tour various Japanese institutions.
