ISLAMABAD: Acting on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, practical measures have been implemented to enhance Pakistan’s immigration system, beginning with improvements at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport.
As part of the reforms, new immigration counters have been set up to streamline clearance procedures for foreign travelers and reduce unnecessary delays.
According to a spokesperson for the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the initiative is designed to facilitate international visitors—particularly business delegations and potential investors—by offering a more efficient and welcoming entry experience.
The move is also expected to support the country’s broader goals of promoting tourism, expanding trade, and attracting foreign investment. Additionally, returning Pakistani citizens will benefit from a more seamless immigration process under the upgraded system.
Climber Naziruddin’s body found at the Lady Pals Glacier 28 years after he disappeared
After nearly three decades of uncertainty, the body of Naziruddin, son of Behram and a member of the Saleh Khel tribe, was recovered in a remarkably preserved state from the Lady Pals Glacier on Sunday. He had gone missing 28 years ago during a snowstorm in the high-altitude Bar Pals region.
Naziruddin was last seen in 1997 while returning from Spat. It is believed that he, along with his horse, fell into a crevasse hidden beneath the snow. Despite extensive search operations at the time, no trace was ever found, and he was eventually declared missing.
Recently, due to glacial melting, local shepherds noticed human remains emerging near the edge of the glacier. They immediately alerted the authorities. Upon investigation, officials confirmed the remains belonged to Naziruddin. Remarkably, he was still wearing a waistcoat, and an identity card found in his pocket definitively confirmed his identity.
The news has deeply moved the local community. Many elders still remember the day he rode off on horseback, never to return. The discovery brought a wave of mixed emotions—shock, sorrow, and a long-awaited sense of closure.
His family rushed to the site upon receiving the news. After 28 long years of grief and unanswered questions, they were finally able to lay him to rest with dignity and peace.
