  • 5 ‘militants’ killed in CTD operation in Quetta

A spokesman for the CTD said the department had conducted the operation in the Killi Gulzar area of Hazar Ganji, on information about the presence there of the terrorists. The security personnel cordoned off the area and asked the armed militants to surrender but they opened indiscriminate fire. The security personnel returned fire, resulting in the killing of five militants. The heavy exchange of fire continued for around two hours.

  • Long queues of vaccine seekers at Lahore’s Expo Centre

The government had started to vaccinate those people who wanted to go abroad by establishing two vaccination centers in Lahore — Expo Centre and LDA Sports Complex. The vaccination centers would remain open for 24 hours.

  • KP health dept acquiring latest machine to detect Covid variants

The machine would become operational and would start getting five samples from each of the 20 laboratories, including 13 public and seven private ones in the province, which would be analyzed by medical scientists at PHRL. The machine to cost Rs20 million would be used only for detection of variants.

  • Azerbaijan probes impact of offshore mud volcano eruption

The eruption occurred on Sunday evening near the island of Dashlyg in the vicinity of offshore oil and gas fields, with plumes of fire reaching 100 metres (330 feet) above the sea, Azerbaijan’s national seismological centre said in a statement.The Caucasus nation’s emergency service said “helicopters are conducting flights above the Caspian Sea to study the eruption’s impact”.“There is no threat to oil and gas infrastructure or the lives of people,” it added.
