Route-47
Punjab has unveiled its latest infrastructure marvel โ Routeโฏ47 โ a key addition to the provinceโs Central Business District (CBD) that is now officially open for traffic.
The newly launched roadway promises to revolutionize urban mobility by drastically reducing travel time between the bustling areas of Gulberg and Walton. What was once a frustrating 20-minute drive plagued by congestion can now be completed in under five minutes, offering a major relief to daily commuters.
Spanning 4.5 kilometres, Routeโฏ47 is a dual carriageway outfitted with three lanes on each side, ensuring a smooth and efficient flow of traffic. The road begins at LeaderโฏRoad in Gulberg and terminates at the CBDโฏGate in Walton, providing a direct and uninterrupted link between two of Lahoreโs most important urban hubs.
The inauguration ceremony was led by Chief Executive of CBD Punjab, Imran Amin, who oversaw the first official drive-through. The launch was more than just a ribbon-cutting โ it highlighted Routeโฏ47โs broader contribution to sustainable development.
Under the Green Punjab program, the roadway includes a dedicated cycling lane, promoting eco-friendly transportation options. Furthermore, the road is equipped with solar power generation capabilities, reducing its carbon footprint and enhancing energy efficiency.
An artificial lake built as part of the route’s infrastructure will serve as a water storage solution, adding another layer of environmental consciousness to the project.
Residents and city planners alike have lauded the project. Many commuters expressed satisfaction at the significant reduction in travel time, calling the road a โgame changerโ for Lahoreโs traffic woes.
Authorities believe Routeโฏ47 will ease congestion on nearby roads, improve connectivity across Lahore, and support the regionโs rapidly expanding commercial and residential zones.
By integrating sustainability with modern infrastructure, Routeโฏ47 is not just a road โ itโs a bold step toward a smarter, greener Lahore.
