The United States has moved additional fighter jets into the Middle East and extended the deployment of existing air assets, in a move aimed at reinforcing its military posture amid escalating hostilities between Iran and Israel, according to three U.S. officials.
The reinforcements include advanced aircraft such as the F-16, F-22, and F-35, with two officials emphasizing that the deployment is primarily defensive. These aircraft have been instrumental in intercepting drones and missiles launched during recent flare-ups in the region.
While the Pentagon has not issued an official comment, the repositioning of U.S. assets signals heightened concerns over the intensifying conflict and the risk of broader regional instability.
Iran Launches Tenth Wave of Attacks
Iranian state television on Tuesday announced the launch of a new wave of missile and drone strikes against Israel, marking the tenth phase of “Operation Honest Promise 3”, carried out by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
According to state media and the semi-official Tasnim news agency, this latest barrage specifically targeted “occupied territories,” a reference to Israel, as fighting between the two rivals entered its fifth consecutive day.
Iran’s use of long-range drones and ballistic missiles in recent days has drawn global attention and condemnation, raising fears of further escalation across the region.
The U.S. has maintained that its increased military presence is meant to deter further aggression and protect allies in the region, particularly as tensions show no signs of abating.
