ISLAMABAD: Several international airlines have begun rerouting their flights through Pakistan’s airspace, following widespread closures across the Middle East triggered by escalating hostilities between Israel and Iran.
Aviation sources confirm that multiple foreign carriers, including Emirates, have shifted flight paths to traverse western Pakistan before continuing onward through Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and Türkiye.
This adjustment comes as the airspace over Iran, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, and Israel remains closed, disrupting major flight corridors across the region.
Israel’s Ben Gurion International Airport will remain shut to all inbound and outbound flights for a third consecutive day, the Israel Airports Authority announced on Sunday.
Authorities are currently working with domestic airlines to organize flights for the return of Israeli citizens stranded abroad due to the ongoing crisis.
