ISLAMABAD: In response to Israeli military strikes on Tehran and other Iranian cities on Friday, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has activated its Crisis Management Unit (CMU) to safeguard Pakistani citizens and pilgrims (Zaireen) currently in Iran.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced the move on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “To ensure the safety and security of our nationals and Zaireen in Iran, we have activated a 24/7 Crisis Management Unit (CMU) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”
Dar had earlier condemned the Israeli strikes in the strongest terms, saying the attacks “shook the foundations of international law as well as the conscience of humanity.”
The Pakistani Embassy in Tehran has been instructed to provide full support and assistance to Pakistani nationals and pilgrims in affected areas. An emergency hotline number has also been shared for urgent assistance: (+98) 21-6694-1388.
The Foreign Office also issued a statement declaring that Israel’s military actions represent a serious violation of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and contravene the UN Charter and core tenets of international law.
