The Supreme Court of Pakistan has delivered its reserved verdict, turning down the Sunni Ittehad Council’s petition regarding the allocation of reserved seats. The ruling also covers the dismissal of several related applications.
An eleven-member full court bench, led by Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, issued the ruling on a series of petitions linked to the matter of reserved seats. The bench not only rejected the Sunni Ittehad Council’s plea but also overruled objections raised against the constitution of the bench itself.
The court further dismissed a request that sought to prioritize the hearing of the 26th Constitutional Amendment case ahead of the current proceedings. Additionally, applications demanding the live telecast of the hearings and other similar petitions were also rejected.
The detailed judgment on these miscellaneous matters will be released at a later date. Meanwhile, the main case concerning the review of reserved seats has been postponed and will now be heard on May 26.
