Senior Congress leader and former foreign minister Shashi Tharoor has urged the Indian government to refrain from any aggressive military actions against Pakistan, highlighting the neighboring country’s substantial armed forces and advanced defense technology.
In a recent statement, Tharoor remarked, “Pakistan has a significant military presence, and I’ve been informed by reliable sources that they possess sophisticated weaponry. I believe it would be unwise for our government to consider further military ventures.“
He expressed support for the ongoing ceasefire between India and Pakistan, describing it as a constructive development. “The ceasefire is a welcome move in the right direction, although restoring full diplomatic and bilateral relations will be a gradual process,” he noted.
Tharoor also emphasized the need to promote humanitarian exchanges and interpersonal ties between the two countries. He advocated for facilitating the reunion of divided families, issuing more visas, and enhancing people-to-people interactions.
